A 1996 Academy Award nominee for best short documentary, A Self Portrait on the Walls is a remarkable film that records eight days of intense work and quiet rumination as Jim Dine, the internationally-renowned artist whose work is currently on view at the museum, produces an exhibition of bold charcoal drawings directly on the walls of the Ludwigsburg Kunstverein near Stuttgart, Germany. This 28-minute documentary captures the artist’s techniques, thought processes, and artistic philosophy as he works, and comments on the work. Free with museum admission. Reservations are not needed. First come, first seated. Weekends only there is a $2 parking fee (members free).
