Accessibility

The Nassau County Museum of Art recognizes the diversity of our general public's abilities and needs, and offers a variety of programs and services to ensure the enjoyment and accessibility of the Museum to all visitors. Our facility is accessible to all visitors and is equipped with both ramps and an elevator. Our ramp is located to the left of the Saltzman Fine Art building (when facing the front doors), adjacent to the parking for individuals with disabilities. Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis and are located in the coatroom in the lobby. Motorized wheelchairs are permitted. A single-user/handicapped restroom is located on the ground floor.

Service animals are, by law, welcome. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered.

The Nassau County Museum of Art also offers a range of customized programs for visitors with disabilities. Private tours can be scheduled upon request for all visitors with special needs. Both our gallery and sculpture tours include adaptive, tactile experiences and accommodations.
